AWE contracted a leading North American Power Converter company to design the power converter for the AWE 900 Series turbines.  Many power converters found in current turbines are European technology adapted to the North American market.  This power converter has been designed to be a North American product which also accommodates the European market.  The fact it is selling well in Europe speaks well for the universal capabilities of the product.  This power converter has been designed with a life expectancy of 30 years.  It is easily serviced, highly efficient and robust in design. 

Using direct drive technology allows the power converter the ability to control output power factor.  This means not only does the turbine not create a problem with power factor, it will assist in correcting an existing problem.  This is very helpful in imbedded systems, in industry where power factor is an issue.
